Most people start with the builder.
We start with YOU.

When you dream about your home, you don’t imagine blueprints – you imagine moments. You hear laughter echoing around a long dinner table and envision sunlight dancing across your kitchen as you sip your morning coffee. You see spaces that feel effortless, elegant, and unmistakably you.

But too often, the details that make your home truly feel like yours get lost in a complicated redesign process.

It can result in a dining room that doesn’t quite fit the table that brings together your extended family. Or, a new kitchen that has beautiful windows, but not nearly enough cabinet space. These are the kinds of details that shape the way you live in your home. They are careful considerations that make all the difference between your primary suite feeling like an afterthought, or a sanctuary.

That’s why we begin at the beginning – with you. Your lifestyle. Your rituals. Your vision. Whether you’re building from the ground up or taking on a home renovation, we design with intention from the start. Then we collaborate closely with your architect, builder, and contractors to bring that vision to life – beautifully, seamlessly, and without compromise.

Because great home design isn’t just about how it looks. It’s about how it feels to live there.

FAQ

Hiring an interior designer is a valuable investment—just like engaging an architect or builder. While an architect designs the home’s structure, orientation, and systems to ensure functionality, an interior designer focuses on how the space feels, flows, and supports your lifestyle from the inside out.

In the ideal scenario, the interior designer works in tandem with both the architect and builder from the very beginning. This collaborative approach helps ensure a cohesive vision… aligning the structural framework with a thoughtfully planned interior layout. It also supports more accurate budgeting, smarter material choices, and seamless transitions between architectural and design elements.

We’re here to develop a unified design vocabulary and detailed interior architecture that reflect your vision. From layout to lighting, textures to transitions, we help you craft a home that feels just right, for how you live.

While an interior decorator typically focuses on furnishings and accessories, an interior designer helps shape the way you live in your home—enhancing both beauty and functionality. The result is a space that not only looks good but works perfectly for your lifestyle. Interior designers are professionally educated, trained, and licensed to practice. To maintain their credentials and stay current with industry standards, Interior Designers are also required to complete continuing education credits each year.

Ultimately, the most successful projects come from a collaborative team of dedicated professionals working in harmony from concept to completion. Threetrees champions an integrated approach where our team operates in lock step with general contractors and architects. While your project team may be composed of different professionals, they operate as one unit, offering a more efficient process with faster timelines and tighter budget control.

Pricing varies depending upon the project scope, bespoke requirements of the design along with the level of client involvement.  We break our fee into phases and typically bill hourly against an established scope and fee for that phase. The initial phase is valuable allowing us to develop a clear understanding of the project design direction and probable cost.

Every interior design project is unique, so timelines can vary based on the size and complexity of what we’re creating together. After our initial consultation and a closer look at your space and goals, we’ll share a personalized timeline, so you know what to expect every step of the way. In a perfect world, everything goes as planned, but sometimes speedbumps are unavoidable.

Robin’s deep understanding of both interior design and architecture means she’s perfectly positioned to advise on who should be involved in your project. For example, if you’re envisioning structural changes on your first floor we’ll need to loop in a general contractor, but if you’re building from the ground up, we’ll need to team up with an architect too. And if you don’t have anyone in mind, don’t worry! We’ve built some pretty great partnerships over the years and are more than happy to make recommendations.

Nope, it’s not too late! We actually love collaborating with architects on blueprints because it’s a great opportunity to massage the plans as needed (within whatever constraints may have already been established) in order to ensure your space works and feels just right!
